Carrying out the GAME plan:
In order to begin the action steps necessary to carry out my GAME plan, I have decided to address the area identified in my plan. My goal is to implement technology in order to increase student creativity and reach the desired outcomes. My colleagues have suggested the use of Storybird to address ELA content along with incorporating a NETS-T standard. I would like to use Storybird with my students within the next week. First, I will model it for my students, and then I will have my students work collaboratively with a partner. I hope to increase their creative potential while addressing a state and academic standard.

Sounds like you have a good start. What exactly is Storybird? I have never heard of this program. What all does the program contain and does it work with a certain learning type of student or all students? I would love to hear more about it.
ReplyDeleteHi Melody,
ReplyDeleteI love storybird--I shared this with my own children last week and we had such fun creating stories. The beautiful images are sure to ignite creativity. Students could create books for their classmates--you could have a little bookshop in your classroom of student creations. That might be fun for students.

I am not familiar with storybird but think that an online narrative creation would be a tremendous way to have students involved in a creative way. Not only will they be able to display their creativity in words but perhaps illustration as well. How often will your students have access to computers and what grade level?
ReplyDeleteMelody, modeling first is such an important step for students to experience! You will see so much more success with implementation of this program as they can understand your expectations, thoughts, and ideas before they get started. As they collaborate in small groups they will learn even more ideas from their partners, ideas of what they could have possibly have missed from you. I am a firm believer that students can continue the learning process with one another after observing great modeling! Good luck in implementing your game plan!
