Using the GAME plan with students
After reviewing the NETS-S for students and comparing them to NETS-T, there are many overlaps. They both support creativity, using technology to build 21st century skills, and awareness of ethics involved with technology usage. Providing the students with the tools and opportunities to use the NETS-S standards will allow for growth in this area. By using the GAME plan approach, I will give my students new tools and encourage them to use their creativity with the opportunities they have been given. I will provide them with direction to make a goal, have an action plan, monitor their progress, and evaluate. The students have data notebooks, this tool would be a great resource to add to their notebooks to track progress.

I agree that giving the students the tools and the opportunities will allow them to grow and become more knowledgable of the NETS-S standards. Data notebooks are a great idea and will certainly be a great resource for your students.
ReplyDeleteData notebooks are always a great plan to track growth! What kind of information will you have them record in these; do you have any particular ideas? Many times a blank page can overwhelm students, but as they have a particular task or goal they can work towards, recording their many ideas become a natural process.
ReplyDeleteData notebooks is something that I would love to make happen in my room. How is that working out for you? Do you have any network issues that have made them more difficult for the students or you? By giving the students technology options we will not only reach them with new standards but also provide them with more opportunities to learn. Great points.
ReplyDeleteHi Melody,
ReplyDeleteAs you mention, providing students with tools can result in them having the scaffolding they need to move far beyond what we are they expect. The possibilities that technology-based activities open up can lead to the kind of higher order thinking and problem solving students need to be prepared for the 21st century workplace.
Thanks for sharing.
